You should try to enter from the Metro Stop or the attached mall. The Pyramid entrance, even with a Museum Pass on a Friday at 5p is packed -- we waited an hour to get in.
We have been to the Louvre (loover, pronounced like hoover) during the day and you are packed in like sardines. So this third trip to Paris we went on Friday when they stay open late.
It was great, once we got in -- we thought with the Museum Pass it would be walk right in. But so many people buy the pass that that line is long too. You can use the pass to get in from the mall or metro and save time.
I downloaded Rick Steve's Louvre in two hours audio tour and found it very interesting as I had already done the audio guide that you can rent at the Louvre before.

Be ready to walk 15k steps, but believe me, you wont regret it. We purchased the tickets online, only to find the place "taken over" by many tour operators. Frankly, we were happy to do the tour on our own. We purchased Nintendo audio guide for the 3 of us, which was a waste of money. I suggest you download Louvre app, which should equally serve the purpose.
And if you plan to do two museums in one day, forget it! This alone should tire you

It is the world’s largest art museum with over 38,000 objects, an area of 780,000 square feet, and hosts over 10 million visitors annually. I recommend either booking a private tour guide or getting an audio guide to help you navigate the huge museum and to help make sure you don’t miss anything! We did the audio tour and it was extremely beneficial and interesting. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built as the Louvre castle in the late 12th to 13th century under Philip II.
