This was everything people told us it would be. We got the audio guides which were enlightening. Unfortunately we only got into Paris that morning so were rather tired, I advise you to visit with plenty of energy.

First, the Louvre is humungous, so be prepared do not make plans after visiting because you'll be exhausted. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The only thing I should have done differently was an Audio Guide Tour. It's impossible to take in all the Louvre has to offer in one trip, so we picked a few must see items. I highly recommend visiting on your trip to Paris, France.

We first got here around 10am and it was packed! Because of the summer hours - that day the museum was open until 9:45pm so we decided to come back in the evening and we're glad we did - there was absolutely no line! That evening we saw the more famous pieces (Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, etc), but we still had so much more to see since the museum is massive. Since we bought the Paris Museum Pass, it offered unlimited entry for the days we had the pass for and we ended up coming back in the morning the following day. Knowing how crowded the museum gets, we came first thing and while there was a line it was not bad and moved quickly.
Tips:
-Check and see if the museum is open in the evenings because there is no line to enter! If not, go first thing in the morning.
-Don't miss Napoleon's apartments - it rivals Versailles in our opinion.
-A decent amount of the stuff was closed, but make sure you pick up a map so you're not going in circles!
-If you don't want to pay for the audio set, there are plenty of free reading guides online which will give you the highlights.
