My husband and I visited the Louvre in April. It was absolutely amazing! So much to see and so many well known pieces. We generally don't enjoy visiting museums but this one was different. The actual building itself is stunning and the overall experience is very enjoyable. I would recommend getting there as soon as it opens (9am or earlier) and pre-booking tickets. The line with no pre-booked tickets was already very long at 9am and everyone with pre-booked tickets is let in before them so I would highly recommend pre-booking if you want to get in without a long delay.

Visiting the Louvre is like falling in love. There are no words... you will want to visit again and again ... walk the hallowed corridors, spend some time with any of your favorite paintings, sculptures, or other art pieces. My favorites are the slaves of michaelangelo, venus de milo, the wedding at cana, and anything by the italian masters or french masters. Take your family, rent the audio guide, and forget the outside world. Make sure to enjoy a macaroon in the cafe.

The louvre is definitely an all day activity for anyone interested in more than just the Mona Lisa. There’s so much to see and there’s no way you’ll get to everything in one day.
Make sure you get the audioguide as well. Most of the signs are in French so it helps you navigate better. Most importantly, it is loaded with historical facts and context to make everything more interesting.
