A must visit because of the extensive exhibits. Visit if you're into art and history, don't visit if you'd rather not go through the hassle to see exhibits you will not find interesting. Do not expect the Paris or museum pass to help you skip the extremely long line, we had to endure for 2 hours. The only way to skip the line is to book a SPECIFIC time slot for entry online, on the museum website. Please do this. Don't do it any other way. You may read some tips online about the alternate entrance being shorter. While this was once true, this was not the case during our visit. Every alternate entrance bore LONG lines. Again, book a SPECIFIC time slot for entry. Be organized when you visit so you don't miss out on the best exhibits. Also, there are free lockers in the cloak room, make good use of them. Rent the audioguides as a lot of the exhibit descriptions are in French.
This is probably the greatest museum in the world. There are so many exciting and impressive things to see, and it really makes an impression on kids. They have a cool audio guide system that uses Nintendo DS. It is a must see!
This place is massive and awesome. Purchase tickets in advance, online audio guide, both for entry and the audio guide will save you standing in the que. Be familiar with the layout before you enter, its like a maze inside. Most artwork details are in French only which was a bit disappointing. No large bags allowed, the cloakroom did not have space for jackets when we went. Plenty of toilets inside. You will need a minimum of 3 hours if you rush yourself. We managed with 2 kids aged5 &7.Best if you book a time slot for first thing in the morning, although we went in at noon, we covered moslty everything without trouble or significant rush, except for the mona lisa, the wait for which was around 20minutes. Oh and it said print ticket out which we did, but saw a few using their e ticket!
