This is a must see but is very crowded. You need to be aware that you will be shouldering to shoulder with people to see the main exabits. I recommend downloading the free Rick Steve’s app and downloading the Louver Museum tour. Its good and brings you to the main exabits with good explanations of what you are seeing. In summer it also can be hot inside. Getting there in the morning will help with the crowds. They also have a large food court and many stores in the main area below the pyramid.

The Louvre is awesome plus 1. If I would have planned properly, I would have planned a two day trip. There is SOOOO much ground to cover, and I do not think that one day can do it. Also, my family and I (wife and 4 yr old) were with some friends, so I did not get the full experience as we were interacting with each other. There are so many different time periods, so many art pieces from various art periods, it's amazing. The main attraction is of course The Mona Lisa. It seemed like our entire trek through the museum was centered around making our way to see her. When you arrive there, you can tell that you are in the room where she resides; there are people everywhere trying to get a close up picture. One thing that might surprise people is that the picture itself is very small and is average looking. One downside was that the museum audio guide controller (which resembles a hand-held video game system) is tricky and can be confusing when you are trying to navigate your way through the museum. One piece of advice for those with small children: bring your child stroller. This will help you to be able to be escorted to the front and avoid those long lines. Trust me: the line is super long.

Lots to see but make sure to wear comfortable shoes!! The audio guide is a must and best to pick an area off the maps provided as its impossible to see everything.
