I adore this museum. The building itself is gorgeous, both outside and inside.Keep looking up and around the art.Enjoy the decorated ceilings! I went to Paris in October, from Australia and I will go again in June. For me it was worthwhile to buy an Ami du Louvre subscription. It now costs 80 euros for one adult.I recall paying less in October 2022.You can go as many times as you like, in and out during the day and there is a special entry with no queue!! I visited 3 times in October and I plan at least 2 visits in June. I have been many times over the years and never tire of it. There is so much to see.My favourites are the covered sculpture courtyards, the Galerie d’Apollon , the fine arts section and the Napoleon appartments. Yes, it’s crowded and can be overwhelming but you will enjoy it more if you work out what you want to see and arrive with a plan.
This is a review of the museum itself. Amazing staff. Super friendly and competent. Wonderful people from the outside all the way in. Everything is clearly marked and there are great facilities. A massive cloakroom with lockers where you can store your jacket and stuff for free. A Paul coffee shop on site. Huge information desk. Maps available everywhere. Staff to be found throughout the museum to help you find your way. Kids and students don’t pay! The floors are not just beautiful but also very comfortable to walk on. Even if you are not very much into art, coming to this museum just to see it, is worth it.
I have visited this museum at least 30 times. Each visit seams to be different, periodically they make new arrangements. This time they take the impressionists away by giving to Orsay museum. Louvre is the most important museum and must be visiting periodically.
