it is the Louvre!! We've been lucky to see some of the great art museums of the world but i was so looking forward to seeing the Louvre and i was not disappointed. We had booked a tour that would allow us to skip the line (we were inside within 30 minutes of opening), given a great overview (yes the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa) plus some hints as to what else to see. after a couple of hours our guide left us and we had the run of the place (together with thousands of our closest friends). But it didn't matter we were in the Louvre and immersed in some of the world's greatest art treasures. Because we had started on a tour we didn't get the museum audio guides but we found that we were able to download an audio guide to our phones.

There are A LOT of impressive and beautiful works of art in the Louvre, not just the Mona Lisa. Unfortunately, when we visited in late June 2021, the entire Sully wing was closed. Very disappointing as there were a few pieces there we wanted to see. The palace that holds all the art is incredibly beautiful in its own right. I enjoyed looking @ all the exterior statues and architecture. My mom and I both found the frames of the art to be gorgeous. My mother was impressed with the ornate ceilings and the beautiful wood floors that seemed to differ throughout the palace. From the exterior, there is a good bit of one wing that is covered in scaffolding. While outside, we tried to find the spot of the upside-down pyramid since it is shown in the Da Vinci Code movie with Tom Hanks standing on it. We learned NO ONE can stand a top it, which makes sense. My point is, it is not visible in the Place du Louvre. We paid for the audio guidebook which was pretty good but also clunky (it is a Nintendo 3DS). The GPS worked fine for me but my mother's GPS was off so that was annoying as it never synced up. The audio guide was just okay. It had A LOT of information (like 8 minutes worth) of the pieces it featured, but it did not feature a lot of pieces :( So, in one room only 1 or 2 pieces were discussed. That was VERY disappointing. We enjoyed all of the areas of the Louvre and would definitely return, but the audio guide is really a bummer given the prestige of all the pieces of art in the museum. Enjoy!

You can really take from 2 to 5h visiting the Louvre, it was so much thing to see. You can easily get lost because it’s so big, but if you have a good navigation sense, you are fine. Take the audio guide, and enjoy art and history!!
Thank you so much for your kind review!
