We visited the museum with a museum pass which was a smooth entry. Not many people in the museum. It took us around 8 hours to look around and had lunch in the museum. Before go the museum, please do enough homework to generally know about it. The official map was also helpful. You can also download official audio guide app from your mobile application shop. If you want to see a quiet outer view, I recommend you go there early in the morning or late after the sunset. I have been there a few times during my morning runs and sunset time, the view was amazing.
I used the Rick Steves audio guide to the Louvre and I saw and learned about an enormous amount of really important art in a comfortable manner. Others around me were in large groups with guides (much more expensive and impersonal). Get the museum pass before going or you will be in the ticket line for many hours. Clearly, a must see but it can be overwhelming without "a plan."
This was my second visit here The place is mesmerising what with loads of historic information on the audio guide as you traverse through various lounges Painting and Sculptures were our forte then and now also
